Get rid of the Extras

One thing I have only recently realized is that time is extremely limited. Between work, chores, eating, and sleeping(all necessary actions) we do not have very much extra free time. With every year that goes by, you get less and less free time, so those "free" hours will only get more valuable.

So what should you spend those hours doing? I think the best use of that time is to look 10 years in the future and ask where you see yourself and try to stay on track towards your goals. If you look at successful people, they didn't just magically get there. They had a goal and they went straight to it, leaving all distractions behind them.

Don't do useless things that aren't bringing you in the direction of those goals. We can always accomplish so many meaningless unimportant things, but the important things are always much more difficult. Every day we get a hundred opportunities to stray away from our goals and do something easier. Maybe the trick is to make your list of objectives, look at it every day, ask if what you are currently doing is moving you in the right or wrong direction.

PS... For example, you scavenging the internet for inspiring articles and reading this blog right now probably isn't going to help you lose that 15 pounds...;)

  1. Great post! I like that idea of looking into what you want your future self to be like, and make sure you're free time is spent on working towards that goal
