You have feet for a reason! Use them! They weren't made to just push the gas pedal on your car!
This is a good transportation method because you get to breathe and see the world. Usually if my destination is about 3 or less metro stops away, I will use this method.
It is a bit slow though, so if I'm in a rush it can get annoying.
Also if it is hot, you can quickly break a sweat that will linger with you for most of the day. Not too good if you are going to work with clients and stuff. Wear deodorant if you will be combining walking with a hot day.
Morning is the best time to go because the air will be crispy and nippy and fresh. You can make a pit stop in a boulangerie for a quick pain au chocolat to eat on the go! Then you can give your change to a homeless guy to get a feel-good sensation. It's also good to just get some inspiration, wake up, get a reality check, etc. Sounds like the perfect morning, right?
Tips: When attempting to cross the street, just go... if you try to wait for cars and bikes to stop, you will be there all day. Also, be confident, don't start going and then stop, back up, change your mind etc. That will not work for this maneuver.
Risks: One of the biggest risks of walking is stepping in dog poo. This. will. ruin. your. day. Always be on the look out. Constantly scan left to right about 6 feet ahead of you to be ready in case a turd burgler shows up.
