Cheap skiing

Last weekend I went skiing with a good friend. We wanted to go cheap, so we camped. It was on my bucket list to camp in the resort parking lot to get first chair.

We left right after work friday and hit an incredible amount of traffic going through LA. To be expected I guess... But soon we were flying by open desert through lancaster and palmdale. A quick pitstop for a refueling at Primo Burger for a sandwhich and milkshake and we were back on the road. It was getting late so we decided to camp for the night in lone pine. of course we stopped to get a six pack and firewood to set up camp and scare the wolves away if you know what I mean.

Soon we were getting up and in bishop getting some bfast with an old college friend at Blacksheep cafe, apparently a local climbing rendezvous point.

Next we headed to the mountain for a bit of skiing. It wasn't epic, but good to get back into the skiing rythme. It was nothing epic, but you can't beat flying down a hill on skis.

Next we were getting food and going to the bar... where else would you go when there's no warm place to go... Soon we had challenged the bar to an epic game of thumper with everyone pounding the tables.

Before we knew it we were back at the car getting ready to go to sleep. Getting everything cleared out of the way was a bit of a challenge, but it made the sleep very comfortable. It was very cold because we had the back door open to let our feet dangle and it got down to 8 degrees. We will probably close it next time... It would have been awesome to have the van in the picture!!

The next day we decided not to hit the slopes but instead go to the hotsprings. We met some guys in a band there. Here's one of their songs:
