If you have not heard, Amazon has been trying to build products beyond the online shopping business. The two products of concern are the amazon phone and the amazon echo.
So I have tried the phone and it is terrible. It has 6 cameras on it. Although the cameras may have their function, they represent a metaphor for Amazon trying to sneak into every aspect of your life in order to sell you stuff. It looks like they were not too successful as they have 93 million dollars worth of unsold phones sitting around. I guess they might try to get into the cheap phone business. We will see how that goes.
The next product is just ridiculous. I thought it was a joke the first time I read about it, and thought it was some kind of smart vacuum robot... It is called the echo, and it sits in your living room and just listens to everything you say. If you ask it any question it will answer. For example if you ask how the weather in LA is it will tell you it is sunny... pretty obvious to me. The next function is that if you ask it to buy something, it does it automatically with ZERO clicks! So it's supposed to make it even easier to buy one of their 200 million products. Thanks, but no thanks Amazon! I like being able to buy things easily, but stop eavesdropping in my living room. If it was a vacuum, maybe, but just a direct microphone and bank wire to amazon, definitely not.
So once again I think Amazon will have to go back to the drawing board, but I have faith! Come on Jeff, think of something good!!! I liked the drone delivery they were showing off, so hopefully they can start delivering me meals "on the fly"!!
