"A Wise Man Makes his Own Luck"

I think this is a very important quote for young people just getting started in the real world. Unless you win the lottery, lucky people are not just lucky, they work hard to earn that luck. It is not luck that makes you land the perfect job or to find the perfect soulmate. It is perseverance and hard work that will get you there!
So are you the "wise man", or will you just keep buying those lottery tickets every week?


In one of my favorite movies, Dumb and Dumber, Loyd definetely makes his own luck by seeing the possibility in a 1 in a million chance. That's the way you have see it!!! (Although... he does fail on this endeaver...)

LLoyd: What do you think the chances are of a guy like you and a girl like me... ending up together?

Mary: Well, Lloyd, that's difficult to say. I mean, we don't really...

Lloyd: Hit me with it! Just give it to me straight! I came a long way just to see you, Mary. The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances?

Mary: Not good.

Lloyd: You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?

Mary: I'd say more like one out of a million.

[pause]

Lloyd: So you're telling me there's a chance... YEAH!
