Habits can help you to get through a long boring day at work. You know those days of going through the routine of meetings and coffee breaks and the same lunch and the same conversations, and before you know it, it's 5 o'clock and your free. Then you stop and realize that you were just some zombie and you didn't even use your brain at all today. Everything you did followed some inner brain track of copying exactly what you did in the past.
That won't get you anywhere, and it most likely won't give you happiness. So here's the challenge, do something that makes you uncomfortable today. Here are just a few examples:
- accidentally lose your phone on purpose,
- wake up at a different time each day,
- slow down buddy!
- compliment a stranger,
- brush your teeth with your left hand instead of right,
- put a pebble in your shoe,
- Fail an exam,
- send some random text messages,
- have a different conversation with a coworker,
- forget about your social class,
- wear your underwear backwards,
- ask for advice,
- sleep in anything but a bed,
- carpool to work,
- talk with homeless people,
- visit a friend at work in a different industry,
- help an old lady cross the street,
- look at someone else's point of view,
- ask someone what time it is,
- stop talking and act about it,
- organize a potluck,
- wave to people,
- go to an interview,
- audit a class,
- try being a Lyft or Uber driver, talk with customers,
- wear a crazy hawaiian shirt or some kind of costume,
- go to a bar alone and meeting people...
There are millions of ways to get out of that routine and start using your brain.
"The same is lame, and you are the only one to blame." -jesus
